Morgan County is ready to provide
MORE RESOURCES TO HELP YOU SUCCEED

In addition to statewide and regional resources, Morgan County Economic Development Association has a dedicated existing industry program and team who work together to provide resources and programs focused on helping existing industries within our county succeed and grow.

annual local wage survey for members

Morgan and Limestone Counties partner annually on an area manufacturing wage survey. This survey covers hourly and salary wages, as well as turnover rates, hiring campaigns, average payroll, and other various metrics valuable to recruiting and retaining a workforce. Throughout the years, the survey has broadened to include other surrounding counties that better reflect local commuting patterns as well. Every three years, the wage survey includes benefits information to provide full context of the employment packages available.

Peer-to-peer monthly meetings for area plant managers (Industrial Council)

Every month MCEDA hosts area plant managers for lunch to discuss topics relevant to their sites and workforces. The group dictates the topics based on their needs and MCEDA facilitates speakers and programs to meet this need. This group is by invite only and exists to serve the needs of area plants on everything from utilities to educational programs.

Morgan County has established its own workforce development and training resources for industries and actively participates in regional workforce councils.

A local alliance focused on preparing a qualified workforce for Morgan County industries and businesses

North Alabama Workforce Development Alliance (NAWDA) was formed in 2013 as a collaboration between plant managers, area contractors, owners/plants, and community partners to address the shortage of well-trained craftsmen needed by local industry. Today, NAWDA has a full time director working to connect members with available resources and building networks of educational and training partners to serve the future pipeline needs of the area.

North Alabama Works, a focused, regional, workforce council

Region 1 of the Governor’s Regional Workforce Councils, North Alabama Works, allows all workforce/education resources to align and deliver the required programs that meet the needs identified by business and industry (B&I) and the skills that are lacking in the workforce. The council is business-driven and business-led and works with member counties to develop a regional strategic plan and comprehensive workforce development system to support local economic and job development activities.

A local training center that provides state of the art safety training to Morgan County industries and construction companies

Tennessee Valley Training Center, Inc., (TVTC) was formed in October, 2000 by local industry and contractors concerned with having an available contractor workforce properly trained in safety requirements needed to work on local industrial sites. Morgan County industrial plants and construction firms recognize the TVTC as a cost-effective method of insuring training that is high quality and consistently state of the art. It facilitates their effort to comply with regulations of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and CFR's 1910 and 1926. Members and clients rely primarily on sessions conducted in the center's classroom for safety orientation; however, through special arrangements, orientations for large groups can be conducted at a member site, provided adequate facilities are available.

  • NAWDA benefits Daikin by increasing the overall “fitness for duty” of our maintenance and skilled craftspeople in the area. If we consider that the entire workforce is trained and in some cases certified to national standards, we can feel assured we have the best possible workers on any job we are conducting. This feeling of comfort results in better cost control and performance.

  • The MCEDA co-op meet and greets have been a wonderful experience each semester for our Co-ops. We have really appreciated the opportunity for our team to be able to meet other Co-ops/Interns in the area, and also learn about Decatur and what all this wonderful city has to offer. Thanks so much for all your efforts.

  • MCEDA provides valuable assistance to help us effectively maintain and grow our operations through their monthly Industrial Council meetings and through expansion assistance.
